Awesome boats and engines, I'd like to see at least one of them get up onto the plane, just a little bit.

It sounded like some had two speed transmissions, did any of them have multiple gearing? What a beautiful collection of rare boats.

When the one boat with the appeared to be a V12 or 16 gave it some revs the narrow beam boat twisted about 30 degrees about its fore/aft center line. That’s a lot of engine momentum transfer . Narrow beam made it a little easier to twist compared to later designed 3 point hydros.

Most of those were made for bootlegging...and/or racing in the '20's...'30's ..now driven by guys with walkers!!!

No hearing protection anywhere.

The boats are very beautiful but I’m a bit disappointed in a speedboat show without speed come on just half throttle please! If you can afford the boat you can afford to run it!🤷🏻‍♂️

Love all the Chris Craft's and Larson's, and that one Gar Wood. Would have been nice to see a Riva, just so everyone could go "what the hell is that?". Kudos for using Leo Kottke music. Not a native son, but certainly a native (now) of MN.

Spent many many summers up that way, on the lake and at the racetrack. My brother worked at the Madden's GG summers while in college. Many fond memories of dinner at Bar Harbor (amazing lobster) and cruising to Nisswa and back.

Well maybe next time you shoot some videos you can get in your little boat and travel upriver, or upstream, or up and down about so you don't have to shoot in a " no wake" zone..... The announcer wasn't exaggerating when he said it was "a spectacular show". Indeed, it was a beautiful collection of boats, and it's a pleasure to watch them all on my laptop almost 9 years later!

I run my boat in a couple poker runs each year they are around 100 miles and they have 2 classes, over 100 mph and under 100 mph and there are some very beautiful boats there and I would say the average price is around 275K per boat. Tons of speed huge HP everywhere and its fun! THESE BOATS take all of that to another level, when you look at these boats and what it actually took to build them its darned hard to even imagine today! Like was already said these boats are truly pieces of functional art in every way!!!

Do you have any footage of the U-17 John Francis My Sweetie? I saw it at the Gull launch a few years ago and found an old vid on RUclips of it idling, but I’d love to see some more recent footage if that exists. If not, hopefully they’ll fire it up at the show this year :)
